Our sweet little Max finally made his debut on January 22nd at 6:43 pm. Weighing in at 8 lb 3 oz (same as Kenzi) and 21" long. I was so happy once he arrived, I had a pretty rough pregnancy and was ready to be done, everyone around me probably was too. I have been sitting on the couch for too long, my poor kids:( I complained a bunch the last few weeks too thinking I was going into labor cause I was so uncomfortable, but Max had different plans and I was induced, just like with Logan and Kenzi:)
Birth Story:
Wednesday January 22nd had finally arrived. I was so excited and nervous! Brett and I got to the hospital at 5 am to start the induction. Grandpa Hanson had stayed the night at our house to wake up with the kids:) By 6 am I was on pitocin and then the waiting began. I got to the hospital dilated to a 2 1/2 (the same I had been for over two weeks, despite all of my contractions I had been having). They increased the pitocin every so often, but I still wasn't dilating. It was a little frustrating. With Kenzi it went really smooth and I progressed easily. By lunch time Dr. Bennett came to check how things were going and I was hoping I would be ready for him to brake my water because I knew things would go really fast after that. Well Max wasn't quite in position for him to brake my water so he said we would wait a bit. I knew he was headed back to the office to finish his afternoon and not be back until 5 pm! I wanted to have a baby in my arms by then. Dr. Bennett also said to try to wait to get my epidural as well. My contraction weren't that bad at that point, but my pitocin was increased just after he left and then they got a lot worse. All afternoon I was trying to get comfortable and breath through the awful contractions that were about 1-2 minutes apart. By 4 pm I was done. I wanted my epidural, I still was only dilated to a 4. I was so nervous I was going to have a c-section because I wasn't progressing. The anesthesiologist came in and went through all the paperwork, all the while I am trying not to crawl up the walls in pain;) Finally he put the epidural in and slowly started having relief. I got settled back in bed and in walked Dr. Bennett. It was about 5 or 5:30 pm and he said I was a 5 almost 6 dilated and he went a head and broke my water. I layed there for a bit, called my mom said to come that hopefully I would finally progress. Then all of a sudden I was moving a little and Brett and my nurse heard the gush of my water. My nurse was so funny, it was everywhere and she was pretty concerned about getting it cleaned up. I heard Brett and my mom talking just outside the room while she was cleaning things up. The whole time she was cleaning things up I kept thinking I bet this little guy is ready. So just as she was taking things out I said are you going to check me. She just looked at me like I was crazy because Dr. Bennett just had only like 45 min ago and I was only a 5 or 6. She said sure and sure enough he was right there. She went racing out of the room to call Dr. Bennett and my mom and Brett walked in. I said "it's time!" Dr. Bennett got there and changed, the baby nurses were there ready to take care of Max and I was so excited to push and see his little face. It only took a few pushes and there he was! Cute and so so calm. He looked just like Logan, just a little chunkier;) Before I knew it, I was holding him waiting for Kenzi and Logan to come meet him.
Kenzi was so so excited to finally have her baby brother here. Logan thought it was pretty cool:)
I stayed 24 hours in the hospital and was home the next night, so happy. Max has been so calm, sleeps good and eats really good. On his check up Monday ( 5days) He was 8 lb 4 oz, already past his birth weight! Good job little guy, keep growing!! We all love you and are so glad you are here safe.
